Opening Slot for Matt Maher
Jun 8th
On June 7th I competed along side of Paul Davis as Jacob’s Well in a “battle of the bands” for an opening spot for Matt Maher in August. There were two opening slots available and we got one of them. We competed against eight groups and got the runner up position only second to “The Universal Worship Experience,” a seven piece, powerful band. They were amazing and we are excited to listen to them again in August. Paul and I are super excited for this opportunity.
There is one thing I need for you readers to do now. If you are in the Toledo area on August 15th head to the CYO fields to enjoy eXclaim! Catholic Music Festival. All the information for the festival can be found here: http://exclaimtoledo.org/

Justin and Paul as Jacob’s Well
May 19th
I will be playing with Paul Davis as Jacob’s Well. We are competing for a chance to open up for Matt Maher at eXclaim Toledo on August 15th. There are two thirty minute opening slots for local musicians. To decide who will be the openers there is a local talent competition.
The Local Talent Competition will be held: at 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 2010 at Notre Dame Academy. The first and second place winners will have the opportunity to give a 30 minute show at 2:00 p.m. or 2:45 p.m. on the main stage.
We need you out there to give us your support! One of the things that we will be judged on is crowd support/interaction. Come cheer us on!

This past weekend I was able to travel to Notre Dame Catholic High School in Toledo, OH and share my music and faith with some 8th graders. It was a fantastic weekend. I was also blessed to meet Kyle and Dan of Popple. They are two fantastic musicians and have some great stories of faith.
The weekend started with Popple playing some music and guiding us into a prayerful time. Later I was able to talk with the Confirmation students a little about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, share a little story and play some of my music. After that I had the opportunity to beat box with Popple. There is a first time for everything. Until this past weekend I was simply a closet beat boxer. There were very few people that have heard me do this like my wife and son. It was definitely a different experience and was very happy to make music with the guys from Popple. I had a blast. It was great to be able to meet some awesome musicians and spend time with students from around the Diocese of Toledo. You guys rock!
