Love to Pray!
Aug 20th
I was recently tagged by Clayton Imoo in a Prayer Meme. This evidently has been going around for a little bit and has involved people like Bob Rice, Popple, the Catholic Youth Ministry Blog, Gene from Apex and it has finally made it to me. If you are tagged you are to blog about your three favorite prayers. Here are my three in no particular order:
Guardian Angel (I say this with my son every night)
Angel of God, My Guardian Dear To whom God’s Love commits me here. Ever this night be at my side to light and guard and rule and guide.
Hail Holy Queen (This prayer has so much power)
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of Mercy! Our life, our sweetness, and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve, to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley, of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us; and after this our exile show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb Jesus; O clement, O loving, O sweet virgin Mary.
Pray for us, O holy Mother of God
That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

The Majestic Baldness
Aug 20th
There are a lot of issues that I do not agree with in our country. One thing I will agree with is that the bald eagle is one of the most majestic creatures in our country. The bald eagle however majestic has a strange title. The bald in the title of this wonderful creature when thought about is a bit confusing. The bald that we are used to is what I as a human being portray. Let me correct myself, I am balding not bald. Is there a difference you may ask. If you are the one that is balding there is a HUGE difference. I feel better to know that I’m not bald.
Many people have to deal with many things that they are not happy about themselves that they have no control over. Some people have bad acne, huge noses and other flaws or things that make them feel down about themselves. I’ll be honest, I’m not too thrilled about being bald. I have come to terms with it and know that this is the way God has made me but there are still times when I really wish I had a full luxurious head of hair. Alas, I More >
5 Things I Learned From LOST
Jun 2nd
I am a little late on the whole LOST phenomenon. My wife and I never watch an episode until this year. Stop what you are thinking. We did not start watching season six without watching all of the other seasons. We started from the beginning with DVD’s. Then we watched seasons four and five on Hulu. Finally we were able to watch season six on our Apple TV. It took us about nine weeks to get through all six seasons. I am pretty sure we watched way too much television during in the last weeks. To say the least my wife and I were entertained, kept on the edge of our seats and surprised during the series. While watching I learned or was reminded of a few things. After you read my five things comment and tell me what you learned from the show:
- Water MUST be administered orally after any injury: This was true for almost any injury during the show. If you were shot in the arm, “Hurry, go get him some water!” If you were knocked unconscious, “Hurry, go get her some water!” If you have just been pulled out of the ocean and are unconscious because you almost More >
Coffee and Salt
Apr 10th
Today I found out two things; three cups of Caribou French Roast Coffee will make me jittery and people are surprised with honesty.
To set up my experience today I first must give you a little background on the area in which I live. Just outside of a small village in Northern Ohio is where I dwell. I do not have the luxury of water that is purified and brought to my house through pipes that are supplied by a city. I do however have water at my house. It comes from a well deep under the ground. Believe it or not many people get water like this. I do not have to take my bucket to the well every morning nor do I have to have Lassie rescue Timmy from it once a month. I have a pump that bring the water to my house.
Once the water is in my house I can use it for whatever I like. I treat and purify the water in my house first. You see there is enough Iron in my water to build a skyscraper. I have a house filter, water softener and osmosis system to purify my water for use. For my More >
Spirit Day 2009
Nov 16th
This past weekend I had the pleasure of speaking in Fostoria, Ohio for their “Spirit Day.” This was a Confirmation rally for the confirmation students from the area. There was nearly 200 confirmation prep students there. It was an awesome experience. I found out some of the most amazing things like, somewhere in North West Ohio there is a house with a psycho spider monkey! Evidently it was adopted because it couldn’t behave among the other monkeys. I’m not sure I would want a psycho spider monkey in my house. The things you learn at these religious events.
I was blessed to be able to share my faith and music with these students but more importantly I was blessed to be able to spend the day with them. While in one of the break-out session the students were asked what Bible character would you consider yourself to be out of the following: The Prodigal Son, Peter, Judas or Thomas. I thought this was an awesome question. It got me to look at my faith and how I lived it. Here are some thoughts about how I made my decision.
First I thought about the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32). Isn’t this who a More >
