Every once in a while I like to think about my past accomplishments, failures, and life in general. Many of us like to do that from time to time. I am especially fond of my musical past. I started playing saxophone in the 5th grade and was first chair in sixth and seventh grades. I moved to drums in eighth grade and got to play wipeout on the kit at a band concert. During my eighth grade year I was blessed with my first guitar. I taught myself how to play that guitar. It took a while but I was able to do it.
In high school I was in my first band, Bannana Farmers, typo and all. In the end we were a trio of guitar, bass, and drums. We loved hard rock and alternative. We wrote music together and played at festivals in the area. It was great fun and we actually made some decent money doing it. We had some fans and, I think we were pretty good for a few high school students. Anyway, today I ran across a six song CD we recorded while in high school. Of course I had to put it in and listen to it again. It is great to listen to how I’ve progressed as a musician and vocalist.
I’m going to share a track off that cd with you. This was our “famous” song, if I can even say that. Basically if you ever heard of the Bannana Farmers you knew of this song. It is our hard rock anthem to duct tape entitled simply, Duct Tape:
